CHENNAI: The Southscope Cine Awards 2010, organised by the film magazine South Scope, will be held on September 19 at HICC, Hyderabad. Announcing this at a press briefing organised on Tuesday, actress Kushboo, one of the guests of the event, said the nominations for various awards in the Tamil category contained both commercial successes and critically acclaimed films.

Awards will be presented in 11 categories, including best actor, actress, film, director, music director, supporting actor, singer, comedian, lyricist and cinematographer, apart from the best debut and lifetime achievement.

“The nominations include classics of 2009 like Nadodigal, Pasanga, Kanchivaram and Naan Kadavul in the best film category. It is only going to be a matter of choosing the best among these equals,” actress Kushboo said.

The audience will also get an opportunity to vote through their mobile phones, and voting opens on September 9.

Also present at the event were actresses Samantha and Piaa, apart from Srinivasa Moorthy, publisher, and Vishnuvardhan, producer of the event. Leading stars from the South Indian film industry will be participating in this event, to be hosted by actors Shriya Saran and Shaam.
