CHENNAI: Meaning of God
For me, God is a three letter word that starts from the beginning of the positive node and ends till you believe in it. Many consider God as a supreme being with supernatural powers who creates miracles. But, I feel God is more of a concept. I know he exists, but am not sure about his supreme powers. I don’t know if God created me; I give that authority to my parents whose image and likeness I carry throughout my life. But I believe He reflects himself in the miracles of my life.
Religious practices
I strongly believe in Jainism and firmly follow the principles of Jainism. Living the life of a Jain is not easy, as one is preached of truth, non-violence, non-stealing, chastity and non-possessiveness right from birth. We also follow the values of monks, we worship and follow what they preach. We also learn the values of eating simple vegetarian food and avoid eating meat, as it is considered to be the result of violence.
Spiritual beliefs
For Jains, the purpose of life is to attain Moksha, or release oneself from the cycle of rebirth. I do carry a strong interest in taking the path of moksha, but that is only possible when I attain vairagya (detachment from the pain and pleasure of the material world) and I leave that to time. On a day to day note, if I am facing a bad situation I leave it to God to give me the strength to handle it. The very trust I have on Him helps me handle a critical situation with ease.
Pilgrimage spots
I regularly visit Shirdi to worship Sai Baba. I have visited Mahavir Ji, Bijoliya and Morajhadi (Pilgrimage spots in Rajasthan). I’m also planning to visit Sammed Shikhar, Girnar, Pavapuri and Kundalpur in the coming years.
