CHENNAI:  The Madras Guitar Ensemble was founded by Thangadurai Samuel with the dual purpose of promoting the wonderful musical instrument — the classical guitar-- and the inherent musical talent in Chennai, which he has recognised. He has shown unmatched dedication when it comes to nurturing young talent.

Thangadurai himself has brought the ensemble to the fore with his own performances.

The ensemble played its first concert earlier this year to a packed audience  at the Egmore Museum Theatre and increased the awareness about the classical guitar.  This was followed by a recent concert at the Tata Theatre in Mumbai, which resulted in the audience demanding an encore.

Now, the 13-member crew is all set to play its third and most anticipated concert on October 22 at 7 pm, at the Egmore Museum Theatre. “We will be playing Western Classical music and also pieces with Spanish influences,” says a band member.

Passes for the concert can be collected at Musee Musicals, 73, Anna Salai, Chennai. For details, call 9789864860.
