Indian Development Foundation in collaboration with Gremaltes Hospital, on Wednesday, organised an awareness exhibition – Think-Eat-Save – at the Central railway station to mark World Environment Day.

Inaugurating the day-long exhibition, S R Gandhi, senior divisional security commissioner, Southern Railway, exhorted people to come forward and participate in the public event. “I am extremely happy to see young volunteers participating in  social causes to protect the Mother Earth,” he said.

“The theme for World Environment Day 2013 is Think-Eat-Save.  We should be careful in selecting our food, both in terms of quality and quantity, and it should not be wasted.”

Stating that commuters at the Central station would be benefited by such awareness campaigns, he said the young generation had a vital role to play in disseminating such eco-friendly information among the masses.

Students from Stanley Nursing College, Royapuram actively participated in the event. Holding aloft sign boards, placards, banners and posters with eco-friendly messages, the volunteers went around distributing information to protect the environment.

S Sreeram, manager, IDF, and Pius Kalathil, director of Gremaltes Hospital appreciated the efforts of student volunteers in spreading awareness.
