A Sampurna Yajurveda Samhitha Parayanam was held at Naimisaranyam on May 17 which was planned and organised by Sri Sarma Sastrigal, a priest and author from Chennai. As many as fifteen enlightened Vedic scholars made their way there and chanted the Veda parayanam for universal well-being, under the watchful guidance of Sri Gururama Ghanapadigal – an eminent Vedic scholar. The purpose of this entire exercise in great faith was Lokah Kshema or universal well-being. Specific portions of the sankalp were also dedicated to the honourable treatment of women and facilitating the evolution of mankind from gross sensual acts to more dharmic motives that benefit humanity.
The programme was been organised for the people interested in Veda Paranayam.The programme held on May 17 included Sankalpam, Sampurna Yajurveda Parayanam, Arunaprashnam parayanam, Rudram-Chamakam, Avahanti Homam, Vishnu Sahasranamam parayanam, Annadanam for pilgrims. Interestingly, Naimisaranyam, one of the principal places of Pilgrimage for the Vaishnavas, Smarthas and Saivites is located 90 kilometres from Lucknow at the banks of River Gomati. It has been described in every literary composition (grantha) like the Srimad Bhagvatam and Sri Ram Charitramanas. There will be a public programme in Chennai on June 1, which will include a video presentation of the event that happened at Naimisaranyam followed by distribution of prasadams.
