MAC Charities, a non-profit organisation has announced its annual awards for Tamil language and literature, for excellence in fine arts and for excellence in first-generation entrepreneurship for 2013.

The Dr Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar Award for outstanding contribution to Tamil language and literature will be awarded this year to Dr R Selvaganapathy, an eminent Tamil scholar.

Film director S P Muthuraman is the nominee for the Dr M A Chidambaram Chettiar Award given to honour excellence in the fine arts. The Dr A C Muthiah Award for excellence in first-generation entrepreneurship will be conferred on Sandeep Reddy, the managing director of the Peepul Capital.

The awards, each comprising a purse of Rs 1 lakh and a citation in a silver casket, will be presented on October 12, coinciding with the 95th birth anniversary of Dr M A Chidambaram, an industrialist. The award function will be held at the Annamalai Mandram.
