Get set for Mirchi awards

CHENNAI: In a recent event organised at Raintree Hotel in the city, grand jury members who would judge the Tamil performers for the Radio Mirchi Awards 2013, delivered their views on how they would evaluate the performances of singers at the event that is scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on August 16. The Tamil jury comprises luminaries from the film industry.

Keeping in mind the interest of radio listeners, there will are two special awards this year – Radio Mirchi Listener’s Choice awards given to ‘Best song of the year’ and ‘Best album of the year’ chosen by listener vote. All other category awards are chosen by panel of Jury Members consisting of eminent people from the film industry.

Each of the four South Indian languages will have separate jury panels headed by a Chairman. The Chairman of the  Tamil Jury is Gangai Amaran, Telugu Jury D Suresh Babu, Kannada Jury D Narayanan  and Shyamaprasad will do the honors for Malayalam industry. The entire process of screening, shortlisting and selection of winners is being audited by Ernst & Young.
