‘Redress ration card holders’ grievances’

The Minister paid a surprise visit to offices of the Civil Supplies Department at T Nagar and Thousand Lights and checked the status of the applications for new ration cards and other issues.

CHENNAI: Food Minister R Kamaraj on Wednesday directed the Civil Supplies Department officials to expeditiously redress the grievances of ration card holders and dispose of the petitions seeking new ration cards at the earliest. 

The Minister paid a surprise visit to offices of the Civil Supplies Department at T Nagar and Thousand Lights and checked the status of the applications for new ration cards and other issues.

On the occasion, the Minister also issued new ration cards to some of the applicants.

Those who have not received any reply from the Civil Supplies officials, can send in their complaints to the Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection through e-mail.  Besides, the applicants can also contact the officials on the mobile phone numbers: 9445464748, 72 99008002, 7299998002, 86 80028003.The Minister also held discussions with senior officials on shifting the office of the Assistant Commissioner at T Nagar to the office of the Assistant Commissioner at Thousand Lights, which is functioning in its own building.
