CHENNAI: Three days after controversy-ridden director Kalanjiyam slapped 19-year-old actress Priyanka on set, her doctor issued a certificate that working with him again might result in her “developing psychosis”.

“The last two days, she has developed palpitations, dehydration, vomiting and sleeplessness. I find her very anxious, fretful and depressed. This is after she had an episode of violent slaps from a colleague on set in Sankarankovil,” Dr Balaji Baskaran of Noble Hospital in Purasalwakam said in his medical note.

Priyanka was shooting for Kangaroo with Kalanjiyam playing her brother. In a particular scene which required her to cry, Kalanjiyam slapped her thrice - twice for two takes and another time when they were just practicing. The young girl was in tears and her cheeks were allegedly red after all the slapping.

Kalanjiyam was in the news for all the wrong reasons last year when Anjali skipped town and released a statement saying he had been threatening her and cheated her in a land issue. When contacted, Priyanka’s father said she was undergoing an MRI scan and they would consider filing a complaint later. “Kalanjiyam slapped her hard without telling her he was going to do it,” said the man who also doubles as her manager. Kalanjiyam said the issue was being blown out of proportion.
