CHENNAI: FIITJEE is offering a four-year exclusive programme for students of the uniform syllabus scheme (Samacheer Kalvi) for JEE preparation, for the first time in the city.
While FIITJEE has been offering regular classroom (week and weekend) sessions for students of all boards and exclusive programmes for the Central Board students, it is now offering special integrated school programmes for the Tamil Nadu State Board students as well.
FIITJEE Pinnacle and Supreme — the two-year and four-year integrated school programmes respectively for the Central Board — is being offered in three schools in the city: SBOA School (Anna Nagar), Maharishi Vidya Mandir (Kilpauk) and Chettinad Vidyashram (Adyar).
Around 657 students from FIITJEE Chennai qualified for the JEE advanced in 2013 and one of them even emerged a State topper in JEE Mains. Arivuchudar, a four-year integrated school programme for JEE (main and advanced) and National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), was launched last year for the Central Board.
Arivuchudar was started a year earlier in others parts of Tamil Nadu – Tiruchy, Nagercoil, Salem, Namakkal, Tirunelveli, Erode and Madurai. “We realised that students from the State Board had to shift to CBSE to join our integrated programme. As the syllabus pattern is different, they found it difficult to cope with the new board,” says Ankur Jain, director and centre head at FIITJEE Limited. Most of the toppers from FIITJEE were students from the State Board base.
In Chennai, the Arivuchudar programme will be offered at Chennai Public School, Global Education Campus at Thirumazhisai with residential facilities for outstation students and transportation services for local students.
The first batch for the programme began on April 28 and the second batch will commence on June 2.
On integrated schooling along with other boards, Ankur says, “We offer programmes along with ICSE in Lucknow. However, we do not foresee the same in Chennai or other parts of Tamil Nadu as the number of ICSE schools is very low.”
