Grads Day at RMK

CHENNAI: RMK College of Engineering and Technology celebrated its second annual Graduation Day function recently at its campus in Kavarapettai.

The function was presided over by R S Munirathinam, founder and chairman of the RMK group of institutions, who briefly narrated the history of the college and listed the achievements over the last 6 years.

The degree certificates were presented to the graduates by Hemant Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu, Department of Higher Education, who gave away `6 lakh cash awards.

During the graduation ceremony, 242 students received their BE /B Tech degrees in person, and the parents of 34 students received degrees on behalf of their children.While congratulating the fresh graduates he said that he felt happy and proud to be present among the disciplined and diligent student group of an RMK Engineering Institutions.

He recalled that developed countries spend 6 per cent of their GDP on education whereas our country is able to spend much less. Though we are not at par with the developed countries, our greatest wealth is the youth population, With this we can do wonders if the energy of the youth population is channelised with the help of the integration of various technologies such as IT, Mobile and Nano Technologies.

Yalamanchi Pradeep, secretary of the RMK Group congratulated the young graduates. T N Ramanathan, advisor, also felicitated the graduates. Principal E B Perumal Pillai administered the pledge.
