Going Back to the Evergreen

CHENNAI: Old is gold. That’s for sure. And Geet Gaata Chal, a music troupe comprising mostly professional executives from various companies, is set to bring yesteryear tunes alive at a concert this weekend. Look forward to songs from the era of legends like Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Manna Dey, Hemant Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle and Geeta Dutt. The evening will feature songs from Hindi films dating back from the 50s to 70s at the ‘Retro Music Nite’ at Sir PT Hall in T Nagar.

G D Sharma, founder-convener, GGC, and HR consultant says, “We are a team of professionals from the corporate world, aspiring to be professionals on stage as well.  We have all grown up on a steady diet of this magical potion, and it’s so much a part of our life. It will remain so till the end.”

Sharma adds, “We hope to showcase compositions of a wide range of music directors from Naushad, Roshan, Madan Mohan to Ravindra Jain. And the show is dedicated to Chennaiites.”

Music director Ramani Bharadwaj of Autograph fame, P Suresh, managing director of Arun Excello and R T Chari, managing director of TAG Corporation will offer felicitations.

‘Retro Music Nite’ will be held on November 2 at Sir P T Hall, G N Chetty Road, T Nagar, at 7 pm. Entry is by invitation only.
