CHENNAI: On artiste Kalamandalam Krishnankutty Poduval’s 22nd death anniversary which falls on October 14, Kalasagar, the institution founded by him, will observing Gurusmaranadinam at Narada Gana Sabha, TTK Road.
Poduval had redefined and repositioned the place of the chenda in Kathakali. Kathakali devoid of chenda is like an ocean devoid of waves, he had said. To mark the veteran’s death anniversary, living legendary gurus like Professor C V Chandrasekhar and T V Shankarnarayanan will be felicitated by the institution. The event will see Mohiniyattam performance by Kalamandalam Maya Vinayan and Chakyarkoothu by Shri Pothiyil Narayana Chakyar. Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti, R Krishnaswamy, secretary, Narada Gana Sabha, K Ayyanar, regional officer, ICCR, Natyacharya V P Dhananjayan, Narayana Viswanath, expert committee member, ICCR, New Delhi, P N Ravi, director GEO Foundations, will be present among others.
