The 111th birth anniversary of Raja Mutthiah Chettiar was celebrated at Rani Meyyamei hall on Wednesday. Tamil lyricist Vairamuthu was the chief guest of the function. MAM Ramaswamy, son of Raja Mutthiah presented the memorial award to Nalli Kuppuswami Chetty for his contributions to the field of literature. The memorial award consists of a cash prize of `3 lakh. Speaking on Raja Mutthiah Chettiar during the function, Vairamuthu described him as a unique man who made indelible contributions to the city’s history. Nalini Chidambaram and AVM Saravanan were among those present on the occasion.
