Denied Sex, Tipsy Tailor Pours Acid Over Wife

CHENNAI: A 40-year-old man attacked his wife with acid meant for cleaning toilets after she refused his overtures for sex on Wednesday. However, the woman did not suffer any serious injury since the acid poured on her was diluted.

Kupparao, 40, a tailor and his wife Jayalakshmi, 38, have five children and were living in the Railway colony, ICF.

Kupparao came home drunk on Tuesday night and insisted on having sex to which his wife refused and chased him out. Kupparao who slept outside the house entered the house around 3 am and insisted on having sex with his wife which was again denied by his wife. Upset Kupparao brought diluted acid from the bathroom and poured it on her.

Jayalakshmi who felt a burning sensation raised an alarm and was rescued by her neighbours who took her to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) where she received treatment for the irritation caused by the acid.

The woman has not lodged any complaint and is looking for a compromise.
