CHENNAI: Poet Elango Krishnan was conferred with Young Writer of the Year Award during the valedictory event of the Chennai Literary Festival, which was held at Ethiraj College for Women, on Sunday. C K Kumaravel, CEO, Naturals Family Salon, honoured him with the award on behalf of Chennai Literary Association.   

Elango began contributing to the field of literature from the age of 16 years. His two poetry books Kayasandigai and Patchiyan Saritham have won him acclaims. His poems have been translated in English, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. The jury panel, who adjudged him for the award, included writer Ravisubramanian and poet Thamizhachi Thangapandiyan. A Nirmala, principal, Ethiraj College for Women, welcomed the gathering. G Olivannan, chairman, Chennai Literary Association, presented the report of the literary festival. V M Muralidharan, chairman, Ethiraj College for Women, felicitated the gathering. Cultural events and distribution of certificates and prizes were also held as part of the valedictory event.
