A police team was pressed into action to trace the car. However, a few hours later the kidnapped man, identified as Sanraj (42), returned to his home at Gopalapuram. “Sanraj said he was kidnapped by Muthuramalingam’s men over a dispute. He was beaten in the car and taken to a house at T Nagar. However, he managed to escape,” said a police officer.

Police said the dispute pertained to a land deal for which Sanraj had obtained an advance from Muthuramalingam. Based on a complaint, Royapettah police registered a case and arrested Muthuramalingam and his accomplice Prakash.
