Star Gazing During Summer

CHENNAI:The Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre will be organising a three-day Summer School on Astronomy and Astrophysics for students. The school will be for students studying from classes seven to nine.  The programme, which will be conducted from May 17 to May 19 will be held between 10 am and 4 pm at the BM Birla Planetarium, Periyar Science and Technology Centre, Gandhi Mandapam Road.

As part of the programme, fundamentals of celestial coordinate systems, solar system, studies on the Moon, birth and evolution of stars, galaxies, cosmology, telescopes in Astronomy, etc.will be taught. The course will also have practical observational sessions for observing stars, planets, deep sky objects and the Sun, employing modern telescopes.  Only 50 students will be admitted for the programme based on a first come first served basis.
