Bobby Mathews to Take Over Commandant, OTA

CHENNAI: Lieutenant General Bobby Mathews will take over as Commandant of the Officers Training Academy tomorrow, replacing Ravindra Pratap Sahi.

An alumni of National Defence Academy, Mathews was nominated to the Higher Command (Air) course, considered prestigious, at the National Defence College, New Delhi, an official release said.            

He had earlier served as Media Advisor to the Chief of Army Staff and was responsible for the Indian Army's operation in social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.       

Mathews was formally commissioned in the second Battalion of Kumaon (Berar) Regiment in December 1978.

In his 37 year career, Mathews has held various responsibilities, including Brigade Major, Mountain Brigade, Colonel General of an Infantry division, among others.
