Express News Service

CHENNAI: Population First announces call for entries to their seventh edition of Laadli Media and Advertising Awards for gender sensitivity.

PF, a communications and advocacy initiative for health and population issues from a gender perspective along with the support of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) instituted this award to acknowledge efforts by print and electronic media (Television, Radio and Web) and advertising agencies to promote gender sensitivity as an integral part of their work.

All original entries complying with copyright requirements published, displayed or broadcast between July 1 and June 30 can be sent to the PF Head office in Mumbai before November 15. The entries can analyse policies, programs and laws from a gender perspective and highlight influences on the police, judiciary and administrators.

The entries can challenge gender stereo-types by focusing on men and women who are redefining their gender equations, analyse social, religious and economic factors that promote gender equality and against gender violence. They can also try to create awareness about pre-birth sex selection and other acts of gender discrimination. All entries (except from freelancers and from those applying under the web category) must include a declaration from the editor, direct supervisor or commissioning organisation.  The winners will be chosen by a jury comprising eminent personalities both from the media and the social sector. Group entries will not be entitled to only one trophy.

Entries are invited for four categories - advertising, print media, electronic media and web. Multiple entries in more than one category are allowed. All the entries should clearly state (on the top if the entry form) - ‘Entry for LMAAGS : (Category)’
