CM hoists mega tricolour at Victory War Memorial

CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Saturday unfurled  the Tricolour in the newly installed flag mast measuring 30.5 metres in height, at Victory War Memorial near Island Grounds.  The towering National Flag will be visible over a long distance and would be there throughout the year.

The Chief Minister was also introduced to the heads of the Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.

The Chief Minister, along with Lieutenant General Jagbir Singh, General Officer Commanding, Headquarters Dakshin Bharat Area, laid wreaths in the Victory War Memorial and paid homage to the soldiers of all three services who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.

The War Memorial was constructed to commemorate the victory of the ‘Allied Armies’ during the World War I and was erected in the memory of soldiers from the Madras Presidency.
