One more death in Kishkinta accident
CHENNAI: One more staffer of the Kishkinta theme park, who was made to sit for the trial run of the ill-fated “Disco Dancer” ride on Wednesday, succumbed to injuries in a private hospital on Friday. With this, the toll of the accident has risen to two.
The deceased, identified as Shabudin (32), a native of West Bengal, had suffered head injuries when the joy ride collapsed throwing away nearly 25 staff of the theme park, who were made to take the trial run of the joy ride. Minutes after the accident on Wednesday, another 19-year-old staffer S Manikandan, hailing from the nearby Nallur village, died. Most of the injured staff, who hail from the villages around the theme park, had said that they were about to leave for home after work when they were stopped and compelled to sit for the trial run of the joy ride.
The second victim of the accident, Shabudin, had moved to Chennai about five years ago. and was employed in Kishkintha. He was a bachelor. “He was rushed to the hospital around 7.30 pm (on Wednesday) and scans showed that there was bleeding in the brain. He was kept on ventilator since then. On Friday, around 1.30 pm, he collapsed, not responding to treatment,” said T N Ravi
Jose Punnoose (58), Joint MD of the theme park, and D Shakthi Velan (43), who is the human resources manager of the park, were booked on charges of culpable homicide and arrested.
