CHENNAI: Shree Guru Hasti Thanga Maaligai in Poonamallee launched its newly expanded store in the city. Actress Hansika Motwani inaugurated the showroom on April 14, and lit the kuthu vizhaku. The store started as a small jewellery shop in 1917. It was expanded into a larger functioning showroom only 15 years back.

And the newly launched 8,000 sq ft showroom is a renovated version, with an extra floor. “We have brought in more silver, diamond jewellery, and antique pieces. The interior design is minimal for customers to have a comfortable experience. Besides our heirloom collection, we also have a reputation for loyal patronage,” said Harsh Kavad, owner.

Harsh is the fifth-generation family running the business, which was started by his great-grandfather. “Our ambition is to offer more varieties. Gold will always be special. What better day to inaugurate the shop than five different New Years falling on the same day,” said Harsh. “People are all good at heart. We have come so far in business only with their support.”
