CHENNAI: As urbanites, we have lost our connection with nature, which leads to serious health problems, with vitamin D deficiency being one of the most common ailments. Gardening is a great and simple activity to help reconnect while benefiting from the sunlight too. The demand for a green thota, especially in a city like Bengaluru, is a great move. It’s nice to see gardening shops mushrooming, which help you get started.

But the rate of success in growing your own veggies isn’t not always proportional to the amount of money spent. Just some used buckets, home composts and few seeds can do wonders. Few tips to get you started, even if you think you don’t have a green thumb.
