Two die by suicide in Chennai over Class 12 exam results

The boy was identified as Deva and the girl was Nandini.

CHENNAI:  A 17-year-old boy who had appeared for the Class 12 exam allegedly died by suicide in Avadi after he failed two subjects. On hearing about the incident, a Class 11 girl from the same school also took the extreme step in Chembarambakkam.

The boy was identified as Deva and the girl was Nandini.

On Monday night, Nandini of Chembarambakkam allegedly died by suicide at her house when she was home alone. Her parents who had gone out found the house locked upon return. When Nandini did not respond to repeated calls, the parents broke open the door. During a search, they found Nandini motionless and informed the police. Nazarathpet police recovered the body and sent it to a government hospital for postmortem. A case was registered and an investigation was started.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Nandini took the extreme step after learning about Deva, who had allegedly died by suicide after failing in two subjects after the results were declared. Further investigation is on.
