Two more held for burglary at govt employee’s house in Chennai's Kolathur

Puzhal police arrested two more persons on Saturday in connection with robbing the house of a retired government employee in Kolathur.

CHENNAI: Puzhal police arrested two more persons on Saturday in connection with robbing the house of a retired government employee in Kolathur. Items including 27 sovereigns of gold jewellery, 250 gm of silver articles and Rs 36,500 in cash were recovered from them, said the police. 

The arrested accused are V Dhinakaran (35) of Ambasamudram, and M Selvakumar alias Abdullah (38) of Ramanathapuram. The police said the burglars broke into the house of K Gunasekaran (70) at the Teacher’s Colony in Kolathur, when he was out of town. The front door of the house was seen open upon his return on February 16.

Based on his complaint, the police registered a case. One accused, G Mohan alias Motta Mohan (56) of Ennore was arrested on March 1 who revealed that he was part of a gang that burgled the house. 
The police said, Dhinakaran and Mohan got acquainted 15 years ago in prison and have been robbing houses in Tiruchy, Thanjavur, Tindivanam and Bangalore since 2008. They are involved in at least 20 burglary cases.
