JNU sedition case: Police special cell asks 31 students to join probe

The special cell also asked the students of the university to be present at admin block 12 p.m. afterwards.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi police on Thursday summoned 31 Jawaharlal Nehru University students for questioning in connection with anti-India sloganeering incident organized on campus last year on February 9th.

The Special Cell investigating the case served the notice to JNU vice-chancellor M. Jagadesh Kumar asking him to ensure that the students should be available for interrogation at the university’s Administration Block.

The sloganeering incident created a huge nationwide uproar with evidence found by the high- level committee set up by the varsity to investigate the matter. The committee report found that a group student were shouting slogans like “Pakistan zindabad” and  “Bharat ki barbadi tak jung rahegi (The fight will continue till India is ruined)” at an event organised to commemorate terrorist Afzal Guru, convicted in the Parliament attacks.

According to JNU officials each student has been assigned specific slots for their sessions with the police officials. The police have not yet filed a chargesheet the sedition case that had been filed after the event and arrested former JNU student union president Kanhaiya Kumar and two others.
