NEW DELHI: Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal has turned down another proposal of AAP led Delhi government. This time Lt Governor Anil Baijal has said no to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's proposal for ballot voting and said change of mode of polling was not feasible due to time constraint.

The Lt Governor conveyed to the Delhi Government that the rules will have to be amended for shunning the EVMs and it was not possible to make the changes as little over a month is left for the polls. Earlier, Baijal refused to clear compensation announced to the family of Ram Krishen Grewal, the subedar who committed suicide during the One Rank-One Pension (OROP) protests in Delhi in November last year.

Arvind Kejriwal had raised questions over credibility of EVM machines and said that around 20 to 25 per cent of its votes may have been "transferred" to the SAD-BJP coalition, which finished third. The Election Commission has already over ruled the argument that EVM machines can be tempered. Kejriwal had even requested Baijal to call a meeting of political parties and the state election commission to explore the possibility of using ballot papers in the civic polls.
