Deputy Secretary in Finance Ministry killed, wife injured after BMW car hits motorcycle at Dhaula Kuan in Delhi

Eyewitnesses stated that a woman was driving the car.

NEW DELHI: A Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Finance was killed and his wife was injured after a BMW car hit their motorcycle at Dhaula Kuan in southwest Delhi.

The woman driving the car has been taken into custody for the investigation. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon when the couple was returning from Bangla Sahib Gurudwara in central Delhi. 

When police reached the spot, they found a BMW car turned sideways and a motorcycle near the divider near the Metro Pillar number 67.

Eyewitnesses stated that a woman was driving the car. She and her husband hired a taxi and took the injured to a hospital.

"We received a call from the hospital, regarding a patient dead and another sustaining injuries in a road accident," a senior police officer said. 

The deceased is a resident of Hari Nagar. His injured wife is under treatment.

"They were riding a motorcycle and were hit by the car, the injured persons further hit the bus on their left after the vehicle hit them," the officer said. 

The woman who was driving the car and her husband had also got injuries and were admitted to a hospital, later. They are residents of Gurugram in Haryana. 

She has been discharged from the hospital and taken in custody for further examination and legal action. Both vehicles have been inspected.

A case has been registered under sections 281, 125B, 105, and 238 of the BNS.
