Rs 2 crore Gold, diamond jewellery stolen from parked car in Delhi

Crime team, special staff and anti-auto theft squad teams immediately inspected the spot and examined CCTV footage from the surrounding area.

NEW DELHI: Gold and diamond jewellery worth more than Rs 2 crore was stolen from the parked car belonging to a jeweller from Jaipur in Delhi’s Karol Bagh area, police said on Friday.

The incident took place on August 19. The Karol Bagh police station received a PCR call regarding the theft of three bags from a car after its rear window was broken open.

Police reached the spot and met the complainant, who had come to Delhi for business and was carrying jewellery and diamonds. According to his statement, the stolen jewellery and diamonds were valued at around `2 crore, a senior police officer said.

During sustained analysis of CCTV footage, two bike-borne suspects wearing helmets were identified. The motorcycle was traced and its registered owner was located.

He, along with his two brothers, has been detained for questioning and further investigation is on, the officer said. Police are continuing to analyse CCTV footage along the suspected route. Efforts are on to trace the stolen valuables.

In another incident, police nabbed a 54-year-old woman and her son for allegedly robbing her former employee at gunpoint in north Delhi.
