HYDERABAD: “I hav e fond memories of Hyderabad.

It’s my hometown,” said Asif Iqbal. “I began my career as a Ranji cricketer here and played for a few matches. I later on migrated to Pakistan,” said the former Pakistan skipper.

Iqbal, who was surrounded by women cricketers and other cricketers, remembered ML Jaisimha. “He was my first captain.

I always wanted to play like Jaisimha,” he said.

He later on met Abbas Ali Baig, Jayanthilal and Jayanthi Jaisimha. BCCI chief Shashank Manohar said both Asif Iqbal and Gul Mohammad both played for Hyderabad and went on to play for Pakistan. “We are all happy to see Asif here for the occasion.” Asif Iqbal, in a fine gesture, was called to the stage to pose for a photograph along with other Hyderabad internationals. It was truly a day to remember for the Hyderabad/ Pakistani cricketer.
