HYDERABAD: The bitter rivalry between the management of Urdu daily Siasat and the MIM led to attack on the newspaper’s editor and its two reporters at Shalibanda in the Old City tonight.

Siasat editor Zahed Ali Khan was injured in the attack by MIM legislator Mumtaz Khan and his associates at a marriage. The attack prompted protests from the employe e s of Siasat and the opponents of MIM, including the MBT and the Left parties, to stage a dharna in front of the office of the ACP, Charminar, demanding arrest of Mumtaz Khan and his associates.

According to sources, Zahed Ali Khan attended the marriage of one of his employees at a hall near Shalibanda, where MIM legislator Mumtaz Khan and his associates were already present. Sources said Akbaruddin Owaisi was also present at the function.

The MIM activists, provoked by the presence of the editor, entered into an argument leading to a verbal duel.

Zahed Ali Khan and two Siasat reporters were reportedly manhandled by the MIM activists. Zahed Ali Khan reportedly suffered injuries and was treated at the Osmania General Hospital.

He later went to the Charminar ACP office and lodged a complaint.
