HYDERABAD: The Praja Rajyam Party is making all-out efforts for the success of its public meeting, `Praja Vijaya Bheri’, being held here Friday. By roping in lakhs of people for the meeting, the party wants to make it a show of its strength. Besides, it intends to exhibit its crowd-pulling and managerial skills to serve as eye-openers to the parties which are writing off the PRP as an inconsequential party. With impressive speeches and references to the party manifesto and policies, the party leadership wants to galvanise the cadre, supporters and voters.
Party leaders Allu Aravind, Nagendrababu, Devendar Goud and Peddi Reddy Thursday reviewed the arrangements at the venue, Parade Grounds. While a `yagam’ was performed on Thursday for the success of the meet, Christian priests held prayers today.
In view of the experiences at the Tirupati and Rajahmundry meetings, where the fans had broken the barricades, targeted the police and volunteers and caused the collapse of the dais, the party leaders are taking extra precautions to prevent any untoward incident.
Special enclaves are being set up with double barricades to thwart any attempt to breach them. Parking lots have been identified and marked separately for media, women and party leaders.
The first public meeting of Chiranjeevi in the State capital is going to draw attention of the media, people and other parties. The Congress, Telugu Desam and the TRS had already held several public meetings in the Parade Grounds. The PRP meeting will invariably be compared with those meetings and the party’s strength will be estimated based on the crowd response. Since gathering people from North Andhra and the Godavari districts, where the party has a huge mass following, is a difficult task owing to poll code restrictions, the party leaders are pinning their hopes on drawing crowds from the Telangana districts. They are also expecting a sizable crowd from the twin cities and its surroundings.
The meeting will start at about 3 pm with cultural activities.
