HYDERABAD: Promotions are now hotting up for writer Rensil D’Silva’s muchawaited directorial debut Kurbaan. The movie stars Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi and Om Puri. Kareena plays Avantika, a university teacher who meets Professor Ehsaan Khan at a Delhi university when she is there for a brief stint. A few months into their relationship, Avantika must return to her job in New York so they get married and go back together. From here on begin strange experiences for Avantika, which makes her realise that she is a pawn in a huge game. The music by Salim-Suleiman is catchy though the lyrics by Niranjan Iyengar are amateur. It is interesting that this movie is a sort of a comeback for Oberoi. However, has the public seen too much of Kareena and Saif in the media and off-screen to feel absorbed by the characters they play in Kurbaan? That surely will be the challenge for the actors and director.
