HYDERABAD: After remaining without posting for around five months after he allegedly picked up a row with the directorgeneral of police V Dinesh Reddy over his last posting, the state government has finally given a posting to senior IPS officer RP Meena, which is being described as a "punishment posting''.

A 1981 batch IPS officer, Meena has been posted as commissioner of Printing, Stationary and Stores Purchase, a post viewed by many in the IPS fraternity as ''almost defunct'', what with the government once considering to wind up the unit but subsequently decided to drop the idea. Meena was shifted from the post of DG (Drugs and Copyrights) and posted as additional DGP (Provisions and Logistics) in August last year.

Angered over this posting, Meena, who was reportedly eyeing the post of Hyderabad police commissioner, is said to have picked up an argument with Dinesh Reddy and even created a scene inside his office. Taking a serious note of his behaviour, the government had kept him without posting ever since and finally posted him as commissioner, Printing, Stationary and Stores Purchase in place of Aruna M Bahuguna, who has been posted as additional DGP, AP Special Police.
