HYDERABAD: Fear gripped passengers tarvelling on an Aero Express bus from the Shamshabad airport to Hitec City in Madhapur on Monday when a fire broke out from the engine of the running bus at Kishanguda, near Shamshabad.

Around 8.30 pm, as Aero Express bus (AP 28 TB 1763) reached Kishanguda, the driver noticed smoke emanating from the engine and stopped the vehicle near the flyover. “All the 16 passengers on the bus picked up their luggage and hurried out of the vehicle. While the passengers were getting off, the engine caught fire,’’ police said.

The fire control room was alerted and three fire-tenders from the airport and Bahadurpura reached the place. By the time the fire was put out, a major part of the bus was damaged.
