Bringing together stars from the Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film industries is the T Subbarami Reddy-TV9 National Film Awards (TSR-TV9) for 2011 and 2012. Dedicated to celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema, the award function will be held at the Shipakala Vedika on April 20, from 5 pm onwards.
The TSR-TV9 awards were shortlisted after a public polling process was held for the last 20 days by the channel, through SMS messages and written letters, for the years 2011 and 2012. The shortlisted names were submitted to the awards committee, which includes T Subbarami Reddy, Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Dr C Narayana Reddy, Dr D Rama Naidu, Dr P Suseela, Dr Jayasudha and Dr Shobana Kamineni. Based on public opinion, the winners were decided. Since, the award function for the year 2011 was not held due to various circumstances, awards for bothe the years will be given.
For 2011, Balakrishna will receive the award for Best Actor for Sri Ramarajyan and Tapsee Panuu will be awarded as Best Actress for Mogudu, while Allu Arjun and Thamanna will recieve Best Hero and Heroine for Badrinath and 100% Love respectively. Srinu Vaitla will be given the Best Director award for Dookudu, while Charmi and Ramki will receive a special jury award for their performances in Mangala and Gangaputrulu respectively. Nagarjuna will also receive a special jury award for Rajanna.
For 2012, Nagarjuna will get the Best Actor award for Shiridi Sai and Samantha as Best Actress for Eega, while Ramcharan Tej for Rachcha and Anushka for Damarukam are being adjudged as Best Hero and Heroine. Puri Jagannadh will walk away as the Best Director for Businessman.
Moving on to the other languages, stars like Zeenath Aman, Sri Devi, Shobana, Anil Kapoor, Arjun, and many others will receive awards under different categories.
