Telangana leaders, students detained

Though heavy forces were deployed in and around the Assembly in  view of the ‘Chalo Assembly’ programme, some student and political party activists including PDSU and ABVP members broke the police cordon and tried to proceed toward to Assembly premises. The police, however, detained and took them into custody and shifted them to various police stations.

Around 8 a.m. on Friday, New Democracy party and PDSU activists tried to proceed towards the Assembly shouting ‘Jai Telangana’ slogans. As the activists reached the Khan Latheef Khan estates junction, police detained them and took into custody. Minutes after police took custody of PDSU and New Democracy activists, 10 TRS activists tried to reach the Assembly holding pink flags. As the activists reached the DGP office, police detained them and shifted to Nampally police station.

TRS leaders and MP G Vivek, Manda Jagannatham and other leaders were arrested at the Nizam Club. Police shifted them to Bollaram police station.

Two DCP rank officers monitored the situation. A five-layer security blanket was thrown within two km radius of the Assembly.

Senior police officers monitored the situation at the Secretariat, Telugu Tally fly-over, Assembly, Ravindra Bharathi, Saifabad, Lakdikapul, Khairatabad, Basheerbagh, Nampally while tracking the visuals of CCTVs.
