Prof Hangloo named VC of West Bengal Varsity

Rattan Lal Hangloo, senior faculty in the department of history, University of Hyderabad, has been appointed as vice-chancellor of Kalyani University in  West Bengal for a term of four years.

Rattan Lal Hangloo, senior faculty in the department of history, University of Hyderabad, has been appointed as vice-chancellor of Kalyani University in  West Bengal for a term of four years.

Rattan Lal Hangloo, who obtained his doctoral degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, is an eminent historian and specialist on Indian and Central Asia History, Politics and Culture, and Kashmir Affairs.

He hails from  southern Kashmir Province of India, according to a press release here on Wednesday.

He has already served as the Chair of Indian Studies at the University of West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago, and has been awarded several prestigious fellowships.
