Dress to the nines

It’s that time of the year again with the Navratri celebrations are in full flow. Whether it is fasting by day or dancing in the night, festivity is in the air. If you’re looking for a typical gharbha outfit to fit the bill, here are a few places you can check out.

Kota Saumya

Short and stylish

With dandiya nights happening in the city, put your best foot forward decked in traditional attire. Mohini Patel, an old-timer in the business of selling costumes for Garba, retails good quality costumes at affordable prices. From ghagra-cholis to kedias to jewellery, there is something for everyone at her shop located at Rasool-pura. For someone who’s business has grown through word of mouth, her 10 year-old venture is quite popular among patrons. Besides the usual -- ghagra-choli and kedias which she sources from Kutch and Ahmedabad, this year’s trend seems to be ghaghra’s that are of three-fourth length, giving girls a chance to show off their toned calves.

Those who are willing to shell out a bit more can opt for designer costumes available for both men and women. The best part about her collection is that the fabric is of good quality so one doesn’t need to worry about colours fading after washing them. The price range for the costumes starts from `1000 onwards.
