Bodies of Two More VNR Engg Students Retrieved

HYDERABAD: Two more bodies of VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology were fished out from Beas river in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Sri Nidhi and Ritisha Reddy.  Mandi district police told Express that the bodies were highly decomposed and they were unable to identify the bodies initially. Later, police identified the bodies as those of students based on the reports of DNA tests. The rescue teams are yet to trace another body.

Police said that postmortem was conducted on the bodies and shifted them to Delhi in the evening. The Telangana government would make arrangements for shifting of the bodies from Delhi to Hyderabad on Monday evening. As many as 24 students, while posing for photos in Beas river, were washed away after a sudden and heavy flow of water on June 8.

The teams have fished out 23 bodies so far. Another male body is yet to be fished out. Mandi police said that there was heavy flow of water on Sunday, the staff opened the dam gates  and  found the two bodies floating.
