Collector Seeks Complaints against Erring Pvt Schools before July 10

HYDERABAD: In order to refrain private schools from charging exhorbitant fees, Hyderabad district collector Mukesh Kumar Meena said parents can record their complaints about such schools with the district administration before July 10.

In the District Fee Regulatory Committee (DFRC) meeting held here on Thursday, the collector ordered the immediate shutdown of 118 unrecognised schools. Further, Meena directed the deputy education officers of various mandals to shift the students of these schools to nearby ones before downing shutters.

Fee particulars

Of the 2,107 schoold that have been served notices seeking fee details, only 1,337 have responded. The collector ordered the remaining 772 schools to furnish details immediately and warned of strict action against those which collect more than the prescribed amount.

According to GO MS 42, the maximum fee has been set at `9,000 for upper primary and `12,000 for high schools.

RTE Reservations

The collector ordered private schools to furnish information on implementation of 25 per cent reservation of seats for SC/ST/BC and disabled students.

The next DFRC meeting has been scheduled for July 10. District education officer A Subba Reddy, incharge collector Sanjeevaiah and deputy education officers were also present.
