Even though tremendous hype, high-octane trailers, massive audio launches and Twitter trends are synonymous with most of the big-budget Tollywood films, sometimes it is the smaller films that surprise us the most.
That’s exactly what the makers of Vinavayya Ramayya are hoping for when the film hits screens this Friday. The film will launch young actor Naga Anvesh into the Telugu film industry and the youngster feels it is the perfect time for him to make a debut.
“I’ve been striving to enter the film industry since I was a child and I think I’m already a little late. I was always passionate about movies and my parents supported me a lot. My passion for films and the support of my parents have been the biggest driving force,” shares Anvesh, who played Venkatesh’s son as a child artiste in Intlo Illalu Vantintlo Priyuralu.
Speaking about the kind of roles he would like to do, Anvesh says he is currently focused on Vinavayya Ramayya, and is open to all kinds of roles.
“I don’t have anything specific in mind, but it should have a lot of scope for acting. I just want to express myself as an actor,” asserts the debutante.
About his role in the film, he says, “I play a college student and he is someone who fakes a lot. Especially when he’s chasing the heroine, he fakes that she’s in love with him, etc. The implications of this faking forms the crux of the film.”
The son of popular producer Krishna Reddy, Naga Anvesh is delighted that his father is producing the film.
“Having my father as the producer is a huge relief for me, because he takes care of everything and is always in control. Because he is there, there’s nothing to be scared about,” he quips.
The young actor, who graduated from Subash Ghai’s acting school Whistling Woods, is a bundle of nerves ahead of the film but is also confident that it would do well.
“I’m obviously very scared because it is my launch but at the same time I’m very confident because many people have seen the movie and everybody gave excellent feedback,” he explains.
Anvesh, who seeks inspiration from Allu Arjun, says he has a couple projects lined up after Vinavayya Ramayya.
“A couple of directors approached me and I have a few projects lined up. I’ll give out the names once they are confirmed,” he adds.
A romantic entertainer, Vinavayya Ramayya also marks the return of producer Krishna Reddy to the industry. Known for films like Sindhoora Puvvu, Reddy was unhappy with the working culture of the Telugu film industry and quit films altogether.
However, we all do unexpected things for the ones we love and Reddy decided to come back to production for his son. “There’s a lot of tension when it comes to producing. I’m basically a lecturer so a disorganised and indisciplined structure does not suit me. As a result, I faced a lot of difficulties in production. I had to make a lot of compromises as a producer and I felt it was something that may not suit me. Which is why I left the industry after making 10 films. Now because of my son, I have decided to come back to production,” her shares.
Roughly made on a budget of `10 crore, Reddy felt that he couldn’t trust his son’s debut film with anybody else, which is why he decided to take over the mantle. “To introduce a new actor in a film with a small budget is a huge risk and it may not hit the target. That is why I decided to re-enter the Telugu film industry as a producer. After doing a lot of homework, going through dozens of scripts, we made Vinavayya Ramayya,” he says,
The film also marks the comeback of director Ram Prasad, who admits that he feels like being launched once again as a debut director.
Prasad, whose previous film was Game featuring Mohan Babu and Vishnu Manchu in 2006, reveals that Vinavayya Ramayya is a complete family entertainer.
Singing praises of actor Naga Anvesh, the director compared him to Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan.
“I observed Hrithik in Bollywood, how he introduced his dance. I think in Tollywood, Naga Anvesh is going to be doing that. He’s an excellent dancer and has wonderful expressions. Even though he was a debutante, we dint need to work with him much regarding expressions and dance. We concentrated on particular scenes and the overall film,” he adds, with a smile.
Shot in a span of just 51 days, Vinavayya Ramayya features actress Kruthika as the female lead.
