JNTU's ePortal to Check Discrepancies in Affiliated Colleges

Express News Service

HYDERABAD:After identifying several Engineering colleges with fake faculty and also staff working at multiple colleges simultaneously, the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad came up with a new web portal where it made mandatory for faculty in its affiliated colleges to register their basic details. The university will launch the portal, www.jntuhaac.in on Wednesday.

The faculty of all affiliated institutes of JNTU-H should get registered through the portal and obtain a registration number. This registration number will be used by the faculty and institute for all future references, NV Ramana Rao, Registrar, JNTU, informed. The institutes which are planning to apply for JNTU’s affiliation, in the upcoming affiliation notification, must quote the registration numbers of all its staff members in the information column, the university made it clear.

To receive the registration number, the faculty will have to visit the web portal www.jntuhaac.in and update their basic information like education qualification, experience in years, date of joining etc. They should also upload a recent photograph of theirs. This will also be applicable to those faculty members who are planning to join JNTU affiliated institutes.

Shailaja Ramaiyer, in-charge vice chancellor, JNTU said, “the faculty registration portal is a single window for registering all faculty under the JNTU-H umbrella.” The reference of registration number is mandatory even for  applying for a faculty position in an institution henceforth, she added.

Citing the reason for the launch of a web portal, Ramana Rao said, “recently, it has come to our notice that several faculty are working at multiple colleges simultaneously. The colleges have uploaded misleading data of faculty and it is getting difficult to ascertain the qualifications and employment of staff in an institution.” The faculty portal will allow the University to identify such cases easily. It will also allow officials to identify the expertise and experience of various branches of each college before taking up further developmental activities with the University.
