Too Flighty?

HYDERABAD: Last month, passengers on an Indian chartered flight were pleasantly surprised when singer Sonu Nigam decided to give them an impromptu mid-air concert. This incident was happened on January 4th. Video that showed Indian Bollywood star Sonu Nigam singing a few of his songs over the intercom system on a flight from Jodhpur to Mumbai performing popular songs such as do pal ruka and panchi nadiya went viral.

Now, all the cabin crew members from the Jet Airways flight have been suspended for allowing him to croon on the plane’s in-flight announcement system. Sonu Nigam said that the seat belt sign was off and no announcement were to be made during the time he performed.

He said the airline’s action amounted to intolerance. This is not the first time that an Indian airline has been reprimanded for offbeat in-flight entertainment. In 2014 two pilots have been suspended and an airline has been threatened with being grounded after its cabin crew were videographed dancing in the flight during the Holi celebrations.

As per the fundamental rights of Indian constitution all are equal before law and rules are applicable for everyone.

Do you think the airline was justified in suspending the cabin crew? Or do you think it was an over-reaction by the management? Did Sonu commit an error of judgement or an offence together?
