Patients feel the heat at Government hospitals in Hyderabad

For patients and their attendants at Government hospitals in the city, things have become somewhat difficult in past few days.

HYDERABAD: For patients and their attendants at Government hospitals in the city, things have become somewhat difficult in past few days.

While traders are accepting Rs 500 notes, they have a condition: buy minimum of Rs 250, over which Rs 100 will be taken as commission.

Not having enough money to spend, some attendants are sharing food served to patients at MNJ Cancer Hospital. Mujtaba Askari, president and trustee of Helping Hand Foundation, which is serving food at the hospital, said they are distributing coupons for breakfast and one meal at the hospital and have made an agreement with canteen that the foundation will pay in cheque.

While demonetised currency is being accepted at government hospitals for MRI and CT-Scan as well as medical shops, Pharmacists at Gandhi Hospital are handing slips to customers mentioning the due amount, which can be collected later.
