HYDERABAD: The US Consulate brought the environment experts to a common platform to address the increasing pollution levels in the city on Thursday.
“Though Hyderabad has been identified as the most livable city of India by Mercer’s Quality of Living rankings this year, we will have to remain vigilant as in February there were news reports stating that the average pollution levels in some parts of the city were found to be higher than the most polluted New Delhi,” said US Consulate General of Hyderabad Katherine B Hadda. The reports came to light after the findings by Telangana State Pollution Control Board.
The US Consulate held the panel discussion in collaboration with Hyderabad Urban Lab. The panelists were Sagar Dhara, founder of Cerena Foundation, Shiva Prasad, scientist from EPTRI, independent environmental consultant NS Prasad and Elizabeth Abba, professor at Xaviers university, Bhubhaneshwar.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhara said that the most adverse global impact on pollution happens because of the presence of carbon dioxide in the environment.
