State to seek Japanese help for Phase II works of Metro Rail Project

HYDERABAD: The state government is likely to tie-up either with the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation or Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the construction of second phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail project.The Municipal Administration and Urban Development secretary Navin Mittal, who was in Japan for six days, held preliminary discussions with the Japanese officials in this regard. The state government has proposed 83 km in five stretches tentatively for the second phase of HMR. For this, the state government wanted a tie up with the Japanese Mitsubishi or JICA. “We have held preliminary discussions. The dialogue process will continue further,” Navin Mittal told Express on Tuesday.


Navin Mittal also discussed with the Japanese officials and industrialists on setting up of hardware, software, automobile, pharma and textile industries in the State.  Mittal also studied in the clean air authorities in Japan so that they could be implemented in Hyderabad. The state government has been pursuing hard for the take of the proposed Hyderabad Pharma city across the Globe. As part of this, Mittal held discussions with the representatives of Pharma companies in Japan.


Official sources said that it would take at least three to four months time for translation of officials talks in Japan into actions into state. Meanwhile, the Municipal secretary is scheduled to visit Singapore from August 14 to 18 on various Hyderabad developmental works.

2nd phase of HMR
The TRS government is determined to expand the Hyderabad Metro Rail facility to around 200 km in future. As part of this, the State government proposed five stretches in the second phase programme. Miyapur-Patancheuru (13 km), LB Nagar-Hayat Nagar ( 7 km), Nagole to LB Nagar-Falknuma-Shamshabad (28 km), Tarnaka to ECIL cross roads ( 7km ) and Raydurg-Gachibowli-Shamshabad (28 km).
