Six-day-old baby kidnapped from Government Maternity Hospital in Hyderabad

At around 11.30 a.m. on Monday,  a woman approached Vijaya and offered to take the baby to get vaccinated. She took the baby and fled from the hospital.

HYDERABAD: A six-day-old baby girl was kidnapped by an unidentified woman from the Government Maternity Hospital, Sultan Bazaar here on Monday morning. Police who are on the job of rescuing the baby girl got to know that the unidentified woman got off from the bus at Bidar in Karnataka.  
According to police,  Vijaya from Manchal mandal in Rangareddy district, was admitted to the maternity hospital and delivered a baby on June 27.

At around 11.30 a.m. on Monday,  a woman approached Vijaya and offered to take the baby to get vaccinated. She took the baby and fled from the hospital. Family members were away when the incident happened.  They grew suspicious when the woman did not return with the baby.  They lodged a complaint with Sultan Bazaar Police.  “A case under IPC Section 363 (Punishment for Kidnapping) was registered,” said E Naresh Kumar, sub-inspector at Sultan Bazaar Police Station.

Images of the woman with the newborn in her arms were captured in CCTV cameras which were circulated to all police stations.  “We have verified the CCTV footage at the hospital and the woman is seen taking the baby outside,” police said, adding, teams have been formed to trace her. As per the footage, the woman is seen boarding a bus to Bidar district in Karnataka, police said.
