Man kills wife, son in Amangal; daughter critical

HYDERABAD: A 32-year-old man allegedly killed his 28-year-old wife and seven-year-old son, and severely injured his 10-year-old daughter, while under the influence of alcohol at their residence in Puligonipally Thanda under the limits of Amangal Police Station on Monday night.

The accused, identified as Banavath Ramdas, is in police custody. The deceased were identified as Kavitha and her seven-year-old son Harsha. Ramdas’ daughter Praneetha sustained severe injuries and is undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and began an inquiry.

Preliminary investigation revealed that family disputes were the primary reason behind the attack.

Police said that on Monday night, Ramdas allegedly returned home drunk. When his wife questioned his drinking and reminded him of his responsibility towards the children, he attacked the family.

In an intoxicated state, he allegedly assaulted his wife and two children with a pestle. Kavitha and Harsha died on the spot.

Praneetha was shifted to hospital, where her condition remains critical. The ACP said statements would be recorded from villagers and relatives. Police registered a case and further investigation is on.
